Labor Union Law and Regulation

There are times when our firm is called upon to provide legal opinion in internal union matters. Our knowledge of the law in this area and our familiarity with the union’s procedures and processes gives our clients a sense of confidence in our advice. The attorneys at Greenberg Burzichelli Greenberg P.C. have a great deal of experience working with union leadership in both advisory and representative roles regarding internal union matters.

Labor Union Defense

We are routinely called upon to defend a union against improper practice charges if there is an allegation that the union failed to meet its Duty of Fair Representation (DFR). These claims are considered improper or unfair labor practices against a union. An individual member might bring a violation against a union in pursuing a grievance, for example. In these situations, we act in the defense of the labor union.

Lawyers in an Advisory Role

We have a great deal of experience advising unions in compliance matters, disputes arising from internal elections, how to bring a matter to arbitration, how to handle dues, and other related matters. There are several rules and regulations that govern how monies are separated and how to create a political action committee. We advise union leadership on all related matters.
